Assembly'Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.' Rainy days are exemplary attributions of nature. Everyone waits for the rain as it brings a sight of relief for everyone, children however have their own reasons! Students of Suncity School-37D conducted an assembly on 'Rainy Season' where they elaborated some important facts about rain. They explained the importance of rain harvesting. The audience were enthralled as the little ones gave a zealous dance performance on the song song ‘Neeli Asmani Chatri’. The Principal Ms. Guneet Ohri appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students. 'One of the greatest title in the world is parent and one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents to call Mom and Dad.' - Jim DeMint Students of Suncity 37D celebrated "International Parent's day" to acknowledge the contribution of parents in their children's lives. The Suncitizens of Grade 1-B learnt and appreciated the hard work of parents that goes into raising a child. They also learnt the importance of the day and were made aware about the special bond of love and care between parents and their children. Each student participated exuberantly in the assembly. They expressed their gratitude towards their parents by performing a poem about the love between parents and their children. The Principal Ms.Guneet Ohri appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students. Field Trip“The best education you’ll ever get is travelling. Nothing teaches you more than exploring the world and accumulating experiences.”-Mark Patterson. To learn something new, look back at your past! What can be more appropriate for our young Suncitizens, than travelling millions of years back into the world of ‘Dinosaurs’! Suncity School-37D organized an educational field trip for the students of Grade I and II to the Dinosaur Park, a diorama created within the premises of Aria Mall. The exuberant children bubbling with excitement, got a close experience of an ancient living being on land, perfectly syncing with the theme for this month- ‘Animals’ and SDG 15 ‘Life on Land.’ This informative trip not only helped in developing verbal linguistics and visual-spatial learning skills but also helped in inculcating self-management skills in the children. The curious minds learnt about different types of dinosaurs, their physical features, habitat and eating habits. The tactile stimulus of the replicas enabled the children to feel their textures. The learning experience culminated through creative and impressive reflections, displaying the understanding of the children. This educational trip successfully provoked inquiry in the children and kindled their zeal to know more about the dinosaurs and their era. Subject Integration Week“An integrated programme is a gradual multi-faceted process with diversified cultural dimensions that allows the learners to pursue holistic learning.” One way of discovering the curriculum with the children is, integrating it across the board with other subjects, and the same was done through the activity ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ during the Language and Performing Arts Integration Week. The young Suncitizens of Grade I were super excited as they came dressed on the theme ‘Animals’ and spoke about the appearance, features and importance of the animals that they played the role of. They also carried props to convey their message. They explored the importance of SDG 15- ‘Life on Land’ and made other students aware about the same through their presentations. It was amazing to see the choice of animals and the wide horizon of information shared by them. Apart from the academic syllabus, the young minds learnt a lot about different animals. This was only possible because they were able to more closely relate to real-world linguistic connections in an integrated curriculum approach. We were amazed by the meticulous efforts shown by the students. MathematicsThe concept of ‘Ordinal numbers’ was introduced with the help of a stair-case game where students had to jump on to the correct stair when an ordinal number was called out. Students learnt to identify 'Addition' keywords that would help enhance their mathematical vocabulary and in identifying the operation. Further, the concept of vertical addition was taken with the help of place value blocks to develop addition skills. Students solved 2 digit numbers addition with the concept of tens and ones. EVSThe session commenced with welcoming the students after the summer break and engaging in an interactive discussion on the topic- 'How they enjoyed their Holidays.?' Students enjoyed the game of knowing their peers while singing a song, where they had to touch the child whose name was called after the music stopped. The topic- 'My Family' continued with group discussions and recapitulation of the concept of 'Nuclear and Joint Family'. New terms were introduced like paternal and maternal family, siblings, cousins etc. The students gained an understanding of helping the family in household chores through a video demonstration. This helped them to learn the meaning of sharing and caring with the family. The family theme was concluded by making the students aware that we have school and country as a family. Concept closure of the Unit- 'Family' was done in an interesting manner where students took active part in a 'Role-Play' activity. This process helped them in understanding the lesson more elaborately and also encouraged them to participate more in the lessons. Grammar -The concept initiation for 'One and Many' was done with the help of age-appropriate toys and props. Children were elated to see so many toys and started demonstrating 'One and Many' concept with more such examples. A video demonstration on the same was done to enhance the students' understanding of the topic. To enhance students’ knowledge and to recapitulate the topic notebook work was done. Introduction of Vowels was done through a video demonstration. Hand print activity was done in the class for the better understanding of ' Vowels'.
