ENGLISH Literature November gives us the novelty to start afresh after the long mood of festivities. The joyous clamour of excitement is felt through the routine of the daily Time Table. Reading and Writing Children read the Unit- 'The Gingerbread Man' with a lot of focus on vocabulary building and comprehension skills. They completed the exercises in the Nelson English Grammar Book. The handwriting practice was exercised for developing the essential fine motor skills and improving handwriting. Children learned about the story sequence and elements of the story through the story-'The Gingerbread Man'. The vocabulary was strengthened through the practice of Dolch Word – List 4 and Amazing Words. Grammar Children were extremely exuberant to showcase their understanding of the concept of 'Adjective' through the 'Gingerbread Man' craft activity, where they designed gingerbread man and described it using some 'Adjectives'. The activity was perfectly designed to reinforce the learning of the concept of 'Describing Words'. The students were able to identify and differentiate between 'Asking Sentences' and 'Telling Sentences' through the sentence making and writing practices. Moving ahead in the month, children enjoyed making traffic light sandwiches. Thinking skill development- Children were asked random questions in order to assess their previous learning of the topic. Modes of transport were introduced with the help of a PowerPoint Presentation. Students attempted live worksheets on the topic-'Transport'. Term ‘Communication’ was introduced to the children through a brainstorming session where the students shared their ideas about communication and the importance and need of communication in their everyday life. Modes of communication were shared with students with the help of a videodemonstration. They also made pictures of land transport using different shape cutouts. Students learnt about money and different types of currency as coins and paper notes. Barter system was also explained by an activity of exchanging things. Denominations used in Indian currency were shown to the students. 'Addition' and 'Subtraction' of money was done through a 'Role Play' activity where students acted as buyers and customers. ICT Students were introduced to the computer mouse. They learnt about the different buttons of the mouse, how to hold the mouse, how to click the mouse etc. They enjoyed playing various games and painting in MS Paint to have a better understanding of the usage of the mouse. Indian Dance Dance has health benefits from increasing stamina, relieving stress, and body sculpting to name a few. But it’s also great for mental and emotional health. Dance brings people together and provides them with a sense of community with people that have the same interests and passion. Students learnt Christmas dance choreography on the beautiful song “I am the happiest Christmas tree.” Through the dance, they learnt various freestyle body movements and footwork with fun sessions. Western Dance "When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." The month of November began with a new dance style- Tap dance on 'Don't worry be happy' song imbibing the spirit of happiness. We used freestyle body movements along with rhythmic foot movements (tapping and shuffling) to create a new choreography. They were also taught the basic levels of body like plie and releve. It is a good exercise for mind and body coordination, it also improves the body posture. Drama Story Telling The students actively enjoy listening to stories and imagining a world of their own. In order to enhance their thinking skills and arouse curiousity in terms of all the different ideas that exist in the world, storytelling and enactment through stories like "Alladin in the Modern World", "What if you were a Superhero for a day?" encourage kids to explore the depths of their imagination and define for themselves, a thought process to enhance the teaching learning process on a whole in terms of relating different subjects. The ideas find a way to express themselves through their enactment and understanding of the stories in consideration. Speech and Confidence Building Exercises The clarity of speech and how kids enunciate a word is a crucial point to be taken care of when it comes to expressions and emotions. The correct pronunciation and ability to project the voice without faltering in the speech is something we can only nurture at this budding young age. This change can positively influence their capabilities in terms of listening and speaking, and allow every child an opportunity to develop public speaking skills. Annual Excursion “The best education you’ll ever get is by travelling. Nothing teaches you more than exploring the world and accumulating experiences.”-Mark Patterson The word excursion evokes a feeling of excitement and a sense of exhilaration. This year the students of Grades I & II went to ‘Never Enuf Garden Railway’ Manesar, for their annual excursion. The trip aimed at providing the learners an experience outside the school environment and allowed them to observe new things in a completely different setting. ‘Never Enuf’ is the only garden railway in North India brought to life by Mr. Aadesh, a train-modelling enthusiast who has installed his creations in a Lilliput’s world, straight out of a picture book. The exuberant children, bubbling with excitement, got a close experience of a miniature world in an enchanting display of trains, motor-controlled boats and cars in their own small world of houses, industries, and bridges, perfectly syncing with the theme for this month- ‘Transport’ and SDG 9- ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’. Apart from admiring the miniature rail world, the young ‘Suncitizens’ also learnt about ticket windows, signals, railway crossings and station masters. The children were made aware of, how to deal with emergency situations involving fire escapes and more. The enthralling trip was made even more enjoyable with the scrumptious food, served at the venue. The children prepared DIY crafts and carried them home as souvenirs for their parents. AssembliesI A The young Suncitizens of Grade I-A, conducted their class assembly on the theme-‘Universal Kindness Day’ on 15th November. Students were made aware of the significance of the Universal Kindness Day by highlighting the importance and by connecting it with the real-life examples. Being kind to others instils a positive feeling and makes this world a better place to live. The assembly showcased the talent of the children and effectively conveyed the message that kindness is an act of compassion, love, concern and sympathy. I B ''Tolerance is a virtue that depends upon peace and strength" - Charles Linderburg Students of class 1 B presented a beautiful assembly on 22nd November on the topic ‘I am Tolerant’. The assembly gave a message of being tolerant and accepting people as they are. It showcased the talent of the children and effectively conveyed the message that being tolerant is an act of compassion, love, concern and sympathy. Being tolerant to others instils a positive feeling and makes this world a better place to live. The assembly concluded with a beautiful musical act performed by the students which tells us about accepting everyone as they are as 'We are all amazing'. IC "Winter is not a season, it's a celebration." Grade 1C proved the wordings of this quote true by welcoming winter season with open arms through their assembly on the 29th of November. The assembly started with news updates and positive thought. The young minds shared all the related information on winter and successfully, brought the cheerfulness of the season through a joyful song. Children’s Day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, popularly known as Pandit Nehru, who was born on 14th of November in the year 1889. Suncity School-37 D organized an amazing “Science Magic Show” for the young Suncitizens. The magician performed several bewildering tricks that left our little Suncitizens astonished and awestruck. Not only a magic show, but our little ones also enjoyed a movie time with their friends while snacking on delicious popcorns and chocolates. Our children had a memorable experience as they enjoyed the wonderful events and went back home happy and overjoyed.

MathematicsStudents continued the learning of the 'Multiplication' concept as repeated addition and grouping. They also learnt tables from 1 to 5 and wrote them in their notebook using jodo blocks. Students also enjoyed building on their logical and analytical skills by working on the Sep-Edu module. EVSThe month of October started with the children sharing their thoughts and feelings about the need for shelter in their lives. Our little learners learnt about different types of houses through a PowerPoint Presentation. The topic of Kuccha house and Pucca house continued and children learnt about the characteristics of the same. As part of English integration students enjoyed watching the story- ‘Three Little Pigs’ and discussed about the three different types of houses, the pigs made in the story. The little enthusiasts were introduced to different rooms in a house. The teachers also discussed the importance of a clean house with a help of a video and a PowerPoint presentation. In addition, various safety measures that they should follow were discussed in the class. As an art integration activity, the children enjoyed house making craft using coloured paper and stick/straws in their artbook. The topic 'Our neighbourhood' was discussed with the students and the importance of neighbourhood community was explained to the children with the help of a video demonstration. Children were taken for a school tour and they were made aware of the different types of rooms used for different purposes in a school. The topic of ‘Community Helpers’ was introduced with a video demonstration on how houses are built and who are the people involved in constructing houses. The little curious minds were taken to visit the construction site to understand how a house is build and which materials are used for the same. As experiential learning is an integral part of education, students were taken to a ‘Field trip to the Fire Station’ where they learnt about the importance of firefighters in our society and how firefighters rescue people by putting their own life at risk. EnglishIn the month of October, Grade1 children gained confidence and took one step further in becoming confident communicators using the four language skills seamlessly. They understood alphabetical order of a dictionary. They understood the text and took up the loud reading of the Unit 6 -'Toys'. Amazing words were done in the notebook as a part of the vocabulary enrichment exercise. Chapter end exercises were done in an interactive manner where children and teacher brainstormed together and discovered the correct answers. A ‘Show and Tell’ was planned for students to enhance their public speaking skills. Children were elated by the thought of bringing their favourite toys to school. They looked super thrilled as they talked about their favourite toys. They understood the concept of this-that, these-those words by expressing their own ideas. They were able to differentiate between Telling Sentence and Asking Sentence. Students learnt to identify commonly used blends, words ending with -ff, -ss, and -ll. This helped them to read the text fluently. Dolch words list III was done in the notebook. The students had a great learning experience as they continued to learn and grow each day. Nothing teaches you more than exploring the world and accumulating experiences.” - Mark Patterson The students of grades I & II, visited ‘Haryana Fire and Emergency Services’, to extend their knowledge about the community helpers. They got a hands-on-experience in fire safety and the essential community helper- the ‘Firefighter’. They watched how firefighters use their fire trucks in an emergency. The firefighters showed them the different equipment used by them and demonstrated the use of a fire extinguisher. Children were ecstatic when they saw a firefighter slide down the pole. They asked many questions to the firefighters. The firefighters were surprised by the inquisitiveness of the children. They were told about the emergency number where they can call when there is a fire. Their visit was aimed at learning about the duties of firefighters and also to get fire safety measures for day-to-day life. All in all it was a fun-filled and an informative experience for the children. Physical EducationStudents practised: Warm-up exercises like on-the-spot jogging, jumping and running. One tradition links the festival to legends in the Hindu epic Ramayana, where Diwali is the day when Rama, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman reached Ayodhya after a period of 14 years in exile after Rama's army of good defeated the demon king Ravana's army of evil. On this auspicious occasion students performed a peppy dance on a Diwali Song. An art integration activity with EVS to make the students aware about the loss of life below water. They came up with beautiful colour scheme themselves. Children were also explained to draw Diwali festival scene where they were shown pictures of Diwali decorations. Students were encouraged to draw diya decorated and filled with different designs.
