Mathematics Students were introduced to the ‘Time’ concept in their Math lessons. Important facts related to weekdays , months and year were revised .They understood the difference between analog and digital clock. Students learnt to tell time o'clock and half past using the analog clock drawing in their notebook. Students strengthened their understanding of the Time concept by using Visnos clock. EVS The month of December started with the children sharing their thoughts and feelings about the need for ‘Water’ in their lives. Our little scholars learnt about different sources of water through a 'PowerPoint Presentation.' The students learnt about the properties of water with the help of audio-visual aids and a few experiments. The teachers discussed the importance of clean water with the help of a video demonstration and made the students aware of the impact of 'Water Pollution'. The little learners made beautiful pictures on ‘Save Water’ as an art integration activity. The topic ‘Air’ was introduced with a video demonstration and by observing the surroundings. The students learnt about the properties of 'Air'. The little curious minds also learnt about the various steps that should be taken to keep the air clean. They were sensitized on how they can contribute in keeping the air clean in their own small ways. They were also introduced to 'Data and Memory.' They were asked a few questions to understand the concept of 'Memory.' The knowledge of the concepts was recalled through the 'MS Form quiz.' English Literature The month of December brought the sound of the tinkling bells of Christmas, bringing joy and merriment to our minds. The joyous clamour of excitement was felt throughout the month. The children enjoyed learning 'Factual Writing' through the Unit ‘All about Foxes’. The Unit was introduced with an 'Animal Riddle' to induce the interest of the learners. Children learnt about the front cover, back cover and the essential contents of the book through the 'Book Cover Activity', where they had to design a book cover on any of their favourite animals. 'Amazing Words' from the chapter were done through 'Oral drill' and 'Sentence Framing.' Grammar Writing skill was enhanced through the Christmas Activity, where the students prepared their 'Christmas Wish List' for Santa on a paper cut out of a stocking and further coloured and decorated it. The practice of Dolch Word – List 5 was done for vocabulary enhancement this month. It increased the students' retention power and made the learning process more fun. ‘ck and nk’ blend words were explained to the students through a 'Mind Map' which was done in the notebook. This thought resonated all across Suncity School – 37D on the 6th of December. It was a joyous and a memorable day celebrated by both the students and their parents, through the ‘Parent Walk-in’ under the theme of ‘Winter Wonderland’ ; an event with a novel concept, conducted by the Grade 1 munchkins to showcase the learning process of their acquired conceptual knowledge and understanding. The true ideology of Suncity School – 37D, was reflected through the performances of the children as they strengthened the means of implementing and revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-17). The perpetual learners conducted the ‘Fundraiser’ for the underprivileged children and depicted the true meaning of ‘Joy of Giving’- as the greatest of all virtues. The fun-filled games along with the ‘Cookie Designing’, ‘Christmas Tree Décor’ and ‘Carol Singing’, brought out the real fervour of the winter celebrations. The journey of the parents, which began with the kinaesthetic activities of ‘Frosty Leap’ and ‘Happy Feet’, concluded with the mirth of clicking a ‘Selfie with an Elfie’. Transversal, Interdisciplinary and Thematic learning are the concepts that play an integral part in the learning process, and therefore the scholastic and co-scholastic subjects were evenly integrated throughout the event. The planning was in sync with the ‘Annual theme’-‘Srijan’ meaning ‘Creation’ and the monthly theme ‘Seasons and Festivals’. The event ignited the confidence in the young minds to flip their roles, where they became the teachers and the parent became the learners. Keeping ‘21st Century Skills’ in mind, the focus was concentrated on the skill-building of the children. Through the ‘Parent Walk-in’, the students honed their communication and presentation skills successfully. The last day before the winter break, was celebrated well with a fun filled class-party. Children danced and enjoyed snacks. They carried the Christmas crafts as a token of love. Children learned winter songs, Christmas jingles and carols like 'Feliz Navidad', 'Joy to the World', Silent Night', etc. Indian and Western Dance Dance has health benefits such as increasing stamina, relieving stress, and body sculpting to name a few. It is also great for mental and emotional health. Dance brings people together and provides them with a sense of community with the people that have the same interests and passion. Students learnt Christmas dance choreography on the beautiful song 'I am the happiest Christmas tree'. Through the dance, they learnt various freestyle body movements and footwork with fun sessions. Students were introduced to the monthly theme ‘Air and Water’ where they drew a winter scene for the Parent Walk-in. They learnt to draw snow scene by visualizing the pictures. Students were encouraged to draw snow and pine trees, where they showed snow in a realistic way. The topic was integrated with 'SDG 6' and was displayed in Parent Walk-in. The students also practiced an EVS integrated activity where they made a poster on the topic ‘Save Water’, However, they showed beautifully how we can save water on our mother Earth.
