MATHEMATICSIn the month of April, students started Math lessons by strengthening the basics and doing a recap of what they had studied in early years. A class discussion ensued where students were able to count different objects like number of tables, books around them correctly. The students were introduced to counting from 1 to 100 laying emphasis on the concept of Zero with the help of flash cards. Taking their understanding further, they learnt to compare different objects on the basis of their sizes, height, length and weight. . With the help of counting forward and backward , they were able to explain which number comes before or after a particular number. The students enjoyed arranging the numbers from 1 – 100 in Ascending and Descending Order by playing a game using number flashcards. EVSThe new session started with a lot of excitement in the students. They actively participated in an icebreaking activity 'All about Me' and introduced themselves to their peers and teachers. They completed the recapitulation of body parts of in the Unit-'Myself' with the help of videos and drawing of different body parts in their notebooks. They enjoyed identifying different parts of the body and their function. The children were apprised of five sense organs and their importance through a sensory activity for understanding the sense of sight (eyes), sense of hearing (ears), sense of taste (tongue), sense of smell (nose), sense of touch (skin). Introduction to the external and internal body parts was taken forward through discussions, flashcards, and a video demonstration. Different objects of daily utility were shown to the students like comb, toothbrush, soap, toothpaste, handwash etc. They completed an activity of drawing and colouring of their favourite healthy food in the notebooks. Students were excited to learn about the Unit- 'Family' where they were introduced to the concept of 'Nuclear and Joint Family'. They learnt about what is a computer and also discussed about it's usage. They were shown a few images of various places where the computers were used. They were able to identify the places as well as the purpose of using the computers at those places. They excitedly participated in the school tour where they were amazed to see the multipurpose usage of a computer in the school itself. The topic was concluded by a 'Draw and Colour' activity. A new topic was introduced where they were asked about various machines that they use on a regular basis for day-to-day activities. The different ways in which a machine works(Types of machines - working on Electricity/Fuel/Human Power) was also discussed during the session. Introduction of the terms Auditory, Visual, Tactile, Olfactory and Gustatory was done through a class activity. Amazing words from the unit was done in the notebook. The students were encouraged to frame sentences independently. Chapter end exercise, comprehension and alphabet writing was done in an interactive manner. Unit- ‘My Family’ was introduced to the children. Grammar The concept initiation for 'Naming Words' was done in an interesting manner through the game-Name/Place/ Animal/Thing. A video demonstration on the same was done to enhance the students' understanding of the topic. 'Draw the Noun' activity was done to assess our young learner's understanding of the topic. Blend ‘sh’ was explained to the students through a 'Mind Map' which was done in the notebook. The students were asked to write ‘sh’ words and draw pictures. Fable Festival The month of May witnessed the much loved and anticipated ‘Fable Festival’. The festival was a celebration of the reader in all of us and it was an effort to groom young readers. The festival was announced and explained to the children along with model reading of a fable in the first class. The reading log and its purpose were explained to the children. This academic year began with new hopes and a positive mindset in order to make it a bright chapter for students' life. DRAMAStudents learnt various forms of acting through Drama Activities and Stories -- Copy me, Action & Reaction, Motion and Expressions, etc. Stories like The Boy and the Bear, The Girl and the Puppy. Grade 2 D performed a skit related to Labour Day. In Sculpture Students started with basic and learn handling of clay ,letters alphabets in clay , baskets and snail. On Earth day special students created Earth, where they learnt about colours they see on oceans ,lands and sea of Earth and mixing of colours using oil pastels. Students were introduced to the poster on child labour. A gist was discussed on child labour and explained them by demonstrating it before them. so they enjoyed it by creating it in different way.
