Assemblies"I like the religion that teaches religion, equality and fraternity." - DR. B.R.Ambedkar" The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with pride and reverence with an assembly by Grade 1 E. The assembly started with news updates and positive thought. The young minds shared the significance of Republic Day and the contribution made by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The students gave a beautiful dance performance to pay tribute to our motherland. The assembly was concluded by a quiz where our young minds tested knowledge of the audience about our country's important facts. In the last, the students take an oath to maintain the sovereignty of our country by performing our duties and work towards equality. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Keeping true to the wordings of the quote, a general assembly was conducted on the topic, “I am Truthful” by the students of Grade ID on 31st January 2023. The assembly showed the importance of being truthful and kept the audience engrossed throughout the presentation. The students presented prayer, thought for the day, news and new word was introduced to enhance the vocabulary. The assembly also included the poem on the topic truthful. The students also highlighted the significance of being true in situation through a role play. This day was culminated by wise and motivational words by The Section head, Ms. Mansi Bhatnagar. The assembly concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem. MathematicsThe month of January started with recap of 'Time'. The children attended online classes for week 2 and 3 where the concept of 'Calendar' was introduced using pictures. The students learnt how to check a date with month in a particular year. Also three digit numbers were introduced by a short number comparison problem. Students were given a number to play the number race game to identify the number that comes before and after the given number. Number cards were also used to identify 'What comes Before/After. Students learnt about the 'Place Value of Numbers' and 'Number Names' up to 300 using resources- place value blocks and number cards. The conceptual understanding of students was strengthened using hands on approach. Environmental ScienceStudents returned from the winter vacation in a happy and joyful mood. The month of January started with the topic ‘Festivals’. The colour and cheerfulness of the topic, Festivals were rightfully expressed by our young first graders. Students learnt about different Religious and National festivals and the relevance of the National Flag and National Holidays. Students were introduced to different 'Seasons of the Year'. They also learnt about the fruits and clothes related to a particular season. Students learnt about the difference between Weather and Season and maintained a weekly weather report to analyse the changes of weather each day through class discussions. 'Seasons Wheel' activity was done in the class where students learnt about different things that we use in different seasons. Then the storage were discussed like CDs and Pendrive. A revision quiz on the previous topic was conducted in order to test their knowledge and understanding. The topic concluded with the brain developer exercise. EnglishAll the children loved coming back to offline classes after attending two weeks of online sessions and a refreshing winter break. They couldn’t hold the excitement and eagerly shared thrilling adventures and their new year resolutions. Literature The introduction of the chapter “Jack and the Special Beans” was done through the See-Think-Wonder routine, which helped stimulate their curiosity and inquiry through careful observations. Rubric for visible thinking routine was used by students for self-assessment. Reading of the play “Jack and the Special Beans” was done in a very creative manner through the Reader’s Theatre. In-depth discussions were done about characters, settings, beginning, and end of the story. Amazing words from the unit were done where students framed sentences while completing the work in the notebook. Chapter end Q&A session was done where children were able to answer the questions posed. Post that, they completed the question answers in the notebook. Children vividly described the various settings and experienced the joy of acting while enacting the different characters of the story in the ‘Role Play’ activity. Grammar Introduction of 'Prepositions' was done through the all-time favourite 'Simon Says' game, followed by a story sequencing activity with the help of props. Children were able to frame sentences using 'Prepositions'. Their vocabulary was enhanced through Dolch words list-6. Students learnt to identify commonly used 'Blends', 'Words ending with oa, o-e, and ow.' Indian DanceIf you visit Punjab during the harvest season, there’s a good chance that you will be able to witness a Bhangra dance performance. Bhangra is a traditional folk dance that’s a staple of the region’s culture. The dance itself has an incredibly rich history, not to mention the beautiful costumes, choreography, and music. In the month of January, Suncitizens learnt Bhangra folk dance steps on 'Vibe' song on the occasion of Lohri festival. Western Dance"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." The month of January began with a new dance style -Bhangra- on 'Vibe' song imbibing the spirit of happiness. We used freestyle body movements along with rhythmic foot movements (tapping and shuffling) to create a new choreography. They were also taught the basic levels of movements like plie and shoulder. It is a good exercise for mind and body coordination, it also improves the body posture. DramaThe month of January is a sign of a new beginning and hope. With what this month brings in for us, we need to realize how we can imagine and build worlds of our own through different ideas of qualities, physicalities, and unique specialties mingled together which make up who we are as an individual. To engage that power of imagination and knowledge of different characters that they come across every day, students were made to discover their own qualities that distinguish them from each other and then to create a character that comes right out of their minds. This activity enables them to identify different stories from different characters and choose one for their own. Indian Music जनवरी माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: गायन अभ्यास: अलंकार, बैलून ब्रीथिंग, वाद्य परिचय कहानी के माध्यम से । गीत: देश भक्ति गीत सरे जहा से अच्छा ,राग भीमपलासी बंदिश। संगीत ४ आल: वेलकम गीत, ग्रीटिंग गीत , सरे गामा बॉडी गेम, बाय - बाय गीत, तानसेन मैजिकल म्यूजिशियन। प्रयोग हुए वाद्य: स्वरतरंग,तानपूरा। गायन तकनीक: गायन के अभ्यास की बुनियादी तकनीक छात्र छात्राओं ने गणतंत्र दिवस एवं बसंतोत्सव की गायन प्रस्तुति की तैयारी मे बढ़ चढ़ कर हिस्स लिया। Western Music"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a centain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." ArtStudents were introduced to the monthly theme 'Festivals and Seasons' where they drew India Gate and a scene of Lohri festival. They learnt about Basant Panchami and why it is celebrated. Children learnt to draw a monument for Republic day; musical instrument and swan for Basant Panchami; and a bonefire and kites for Lohri festival by visualizing the pictures. Students were encouraged to draw a monument using scale, where they improved their line drawing. The topic was integrated with SDG-4. They came up with the beautiful artwork.
