Bagless DayA 'Bagless Day' was observed during which the students watched the movie 'Madagascar' and then illustrated their ideas in their notebooks. STEM and Life SkillsThe T-shirt folding activity was a fun activity in which the children learnt about organization, comprehending instructions and hand-eye coordination. It develops their fine motor skills and also enhanced their Visual Spatial Intelligence.By incorporating this T-shirt folding activity the children were provided with a practical life skill while reinforcing the importance of good habits. It was a simple and enjoyable way to enhance their learning experience. Field Trip- Movie OutingAn educational field trip was planned for the children, combining the SDG15 (Life on Land) with the monthly theme of Animals. Integrating movies and interactive activities are an excellent way to engage young minds and foster their interest in important topics. SDG14 - Life on Land focuses on protecting and restoring terrestrial ecosystems, promoting sustainable land use, and conserving biodiversity. By incorporating this goal into the field trip, the children had the opportunity to learn about the importance of preserving wildlife and their natural habitats. Using the movie "Lyle Lyle Crocodile" was an appropriate choice as it likely highlighted themes related to animals and their interactions with the environment. The children enjoyed watching the movie and learning about the adventures of the crocodile character. The movie review activity is a fantastic way to encourage critical thinking and communication skills. By actively participating and sharing their thoughts and opinions, the children were able to process the movie's content and relate it to the theme of animals. Field trips have multiple benefits. They not only provide a break from the regular classroom routine, but also offer practical and engaging learning experiences for the children. It helped the children to connect what they learn in school to real-world situations, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the topics discussed. Overall, this field trip has been a great success in terms of educating the children about SDG 14, the importance of preserving life on land, and fostering their interest in animals. MathematicsAfter summer vacation, recapitulation of 'Ordinal Numbers' and 'Place Value' was done by oral quiz . Addition was introduced by using classroom objects and place value blocks. Students learnt to identify 'Addition' keywords like more and total which enhanced their mathematical vocabulary. Further, the concept of vertical addition was taken with the help of place value blocks to develop addition skills. Students solved 2 digit numbers addition with the concept of tens and ones. Students learnt to add the numbers with carryover by using place value blocks. Environmental StudiesThe session commenced with welcoming the students after the summer break and engaging in an interactive discussion on the topic- 'How they enjoyed their Holidays.?' The new theme ''Animals' was introduced with the help of the game 'Dumb Charades' where the students had to guess the sound of different animals. The different types of animals- 'Wild Animals, ' Pet Animals' and 'Farm Animals' were discussed with the help of examples and video demonstrations. Students enjoyed the 'Ladybug Craft' making activity. The difference between land and water animals was explained. Subject integration with Visual Arts was done by making an animal in the pottery class. Students learnt about the different kinds of 'Birds and Insects' and the difference between them. The theme was concluded with the field trip to the movie, 'Lyle Lyle Crocodile'. The students later on shared their views through reflection sheet. They happily participated in the class discussion about the various places where we use computers and also the purpose of using it. They had fun while playing the games on GCompris related to Mouse and keyboard and brain games. EnglishLiterature The introduction of the new unit 'Growing Up' was done through a kinaesthetic activity, where the children danced and moved to the song 'Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.' This engaging approach would have captured their attention and set the tone for learning. The students were encouraged to note down the amazing words in their notebook, where they possibly noted down interesting or challenging words from their reading material, which helped them to expand their vocabulary. To reinforce understanding, comprehension session was held, with the teacher asking questions related to the lesson and the students actively participating in the discussion. This interactive approach likely helped the students grasp the content more thoroughly. The new choreography started with the enthusiastic patriotic dance on the occasion of independence day. Using the contemporary tools and feeling of veer ras, students learnt a patriotic dance. Contemporary tools give students the scope to push themselves to build their flexibility and it is one of the best calisthenic exercise. Patriotic choreography was an amalgamation of movement and theatre using vocals as the secondary tool. The choreography was done in modern style, keeping the essence of patriotism intact.
