In December, the delightful chimes of Christmas bells filled the air, spreading happiness and cheer. The month was filled with an atmosphere of joyful anticipation. Kids engaged in exploring 'Factual Writing' with a focus on Unit 8- 'All about Foxes'. To capture their interest, the unit commenced with an intriguing 'Animal Riddle'. A 'Book Cover Activity' guided them to understand the components of a book - front cover, back cover, and key content - prompting them to craft a book cover featuring their beloved animals. The exploration of 'Amazing Words' from the lesson was facilitated through an 'Oral Drill'.
Grammar-
The development of writing abilities was fostered during the Christmas Activity, wherein students crafted their 'Christmas WishList' for Santa on stocking-shaped paper cutouts, embellishing them with colors and decorations. This month, students focused on enhancing their vocabulary through the practice of Dolch Word – List 5. This exercise aimed to boost retention and infuse enjoyment into the learning process. The concept of 'ck and nk' blend words was elucidated to students through a 'Mind Map' activity conducted in their notebooks.

LIFE SKILLS
The module for November covered the Theme: Friendship. Making friends means finding people you enjoy spending time with. It's like starting an adventure where you say hello, ask about their favorite things, and be friendly. When you show kindness and interest in others, you can make wonderful new friends. In the "The Matching Game," each child was provided with a sheet of a particular color. The objective was for the children to find and team up with others who possess the same colored sheet. They needed to search around, say hello, and, upon finding a match, form a small group or pair. This game was an excellent way to foster social interaction, cooperation, and color recognition skills. Students were encouraged to think about how they feel when they have friends, how does being around their friends make them feel? The Friendship Awards activity was significant because it enabled children to develop social skills, encourages their creativity, and reinforces the importance of friendship. It's a hands-on opportunity for kids to express their feelings, show appreciation, and establish new connections.
WINTER WONDERLAND
“Anything that is worth teaching can be presented in many different ways. These multiple ways can make use of our multiple intelligences.”
-Howard Gardner
In alignment with Suncity’s enduring motto, 'Sadaiva Agrani’, the scholars of Grade I, orchestrated yet another captivating event titled 'Winter Wonderland’ as a part of the ‘Annual Parent Walk-in’ programme.
The ‘Winter Wonderland’ was an enchanting showcase of children's talents and ‘Multiple Intelligences’, all wrapped in the spirit of the festive season. As parents entered, they were greeted by a harmonious choir which filled the air with the melody of ‘Christmas Carols.’ Groups of children showcased their dancing prowess, embodying the essence of the festive season with graceful movements, tapping into their ‘Bodily-Kinaesthetic Intelligence.’ Stepping into the ‘STEM’ counter, parents were amazed as children demonstrated the intricate process of crafting snow globes, intertwining creativity and scientific concepts. The young minds eagerly explained each step, from selecting materials to creating the magical wintry scene within the globes and explained the science behind the same.
At the interactive stalls, children engaged enthusiastically with parents, each stall representing a different facet of intelligence. Children confidently interacted with the parents, guiding them through activities that tapped into linguistic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal intelligences.
At the ‘Design the Dessert’ counter, parents unleashed their creativity by decorating cookies with colourful icing, adhesive and sprinkles. Laughter and joy filled the room as families bonded over their culinary creations, tapping into their spatial intelligence.
A lively game corner, titled 'Sheet Ritu Ki Masti Shala,' echoed with laughter as parents and children engaged in games fostering a sense of joyous camaraderie. The 'Joy of Giving' station touched hearts as families immersed themselves in the spirit of generosity, sharing and participating in charity, reinforcing the values of empathy and social responsibility.
The ‘Winter Wonderland’ wasn't just a showcase of talents but a celebration of the diverse intelligences present in every child and parent, fostering an atmosphere of celebration, learning, and community involvement, all wrapped in the magic of the ‘Winter Season!’
