MATHSIn the month of November , students had fun making colourful patterns using Geoboard from the Math lab which also made them understand the various patterns formed by using different shapes. They made hut , rockets , car and ships etc. Students learnt about money and different types of currency as coins and paper notes. Barter system was also explained by an activity of exchanging things. Denominations used in Indian currency were shown to the students. Difference between paper notes and coins were explained. 'Role Play' activity where students acted as buyers and customers was done using their toys . They had fun while exchanging money and their favourite toys. EVSThe month of November started with interactive discussions and vibrant visuals of different means of 'Transport'. Students were introduced to essential safety rules and the rules that we need to follow at different places like at school, at home, while travelling in a car or bus, while swimming, on the road. Pictures were shown illustrating pedestrian guidelines, seatbelt usage, and traffic signals Moving ahead in the month, children enjoyed making “Traffic light sandwich”. Brainstorming sessions on 'Importance of Transport' and the different 'Modes of Transport' made the classroom interactive and engaging. Reading and Writing- Children engaged with the story 'The Gingerbread Man', focusing intently on building their vocabulary and comprehension skills. They diligently completed exercises from the Nelson English Book. Handwriting practice was also emphasized to enhance fine motor skills and overall writing quality. Exploring the story's sequence and its fundamental elements further enriched their understanding of storytelling. Additionally, they reinforced their vocabulary through exercises based on Dolch Word – List 4 and Amazing Words. Grammar- Children enthusiastically demonstrated their comprehension of 'Adjectives' through a creative craft activity centered around the Gingerbread Man. They designed their own gingerbread characters and described them using various adjectives, effectively reinforcing their understanding of describing words. Through sentence construction and writing exercises, students also successfully distinguished between 'Asking Sentences' and 'Telling Sentences.' Students were encouraged to draw an airplane, a cruise ship and a bus using shapes. The students also practised Diwali composition with oil pastels and a black outliner. Composition: Creative Diwali composition and means of transport Art Technique: Free hand, colour mixing, colouring, outlining Art tools: Pencil, crayons, scale, drawing sheet. Learning Outcome: Development of observatory and motor skills, colouring, blending fine line drawing. LIFE SKILLSThe module for November covered the theme: 'We're all the same yet different'. The objective was: - To help students understand values and what they stand for. - To help students understand kindness and what words to use while showing kindness. - To help students understand tolerance and how to be accepting of others. - To help students understand the differences in people and be accepting of those differences. The module was further explained with the help of activities, videos and reflection based discussions. It began with an activity wherein children used the clues to complete sentences like “I am proud of myself”. Further, they were introduced to Values and its significance. ASSEMBLYIn a vibrant and spirited Diwali assembly conducted by Grade I- C, the students showcased the power of small acts of kindness that can bring immense joy to the lives of the less fortunate. Integrating Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13) into their message, the children highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change. They urged their fellow students to adopt eco-friendly practices, emphasizing the importance of 'Green Diwali' to protect the planet's future. The beats of traditional music and the graceful movements of the dancers encapsulated the spirit of Diwali, spreading joy and happiness among everyone present. Grade I-D presented a special assembly on 22nd November ’23 on Guru Nanak Jayanti. The students came dressed in traditional Sikh attires and the assembly commenced with a shabd followed by thought and news headlines. Some students then came forward to share useful information relating to the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. The children also presented the bhangra to the traditional bhangra drumbeats. Several in the audience could be seen tapping the floor in enjoyment too. Principal ma'am appreciated the performance of the young performers and encouraged them to follow upon what Guru Nanak Dev ji taught and lived for. The assembly concluded with the melodious renditions of the School Anthem and the National Anthem. ANNUAL EXCURSIONNature is the best therapy, and an excursion is a perfect way to enjoy it. In the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows. -Emerson The visit to Rocksport on November 28, 2023, organized by Suncity School 37D for Grade 1 and 2 students, was an enthralling adventure. The children had a blast enjoying live music and getting engaged in thrilling activities like tyre crawl, burma bridge, commando net, zip line, rope climbing, and other low rope challenges. They created lasting memories during their time there. Overall, it was a delightful and unforgettable day for the students, an experience filled with learning and enjoyment.
