MATHS The month of January started with recap of 'Time'. Three digit numbers were introduced by number cards and place value blocks. Number cards were also used to identify 'What comes Before/After. The conceptual understanding of students was strengthened using hands on approach. Students understood that every number has a place – ones and tens, through place value blocks. Taking their learning forward, students learnt to compare numbers using crocodile sign. Arranging numbers in ascending and descending numbers was taught using blocks ( small to big and big to small). Students played games using number flash cards to practice ascending and descending order. They had a fun time doing Shin Edu workbook pages with different shapes. EVS Students returned from the winter vacation with a happy and joyful mood. The month of January started with the topic ‘Festivals’. The colour and cheerfulness of the topic, Festivals were rightfully expressed by our young first graders, with much cheerfulness. Students learnt about different Religious and National festivals and the relevance of the National Flag and National Holidays. Students were introduced to different Seasons of the year and also learnt about the fruits and clothes related to a particular season. Students learnt about the difference between Weather and Season and revision of the theme was done through the activity 'Sorting the weather' where they pasted pictures of different seasons in their respective columns. Introduction of the topic 'Universe' was done in the month of February. Students excitedly shared their knowledge about Universe, galaxy, solar system etc. The students were asked about what do they see in the sky during the day and night to which they responded- clouds, birds, aeroplanes. Sun, moon, planets, stars etc. The topic of galaxy was introduced where students were informed that the name of our galaxy is 'Milky way Galaxy'. The topic of further continued about the solar system and 'facts about the planets'. Students were mesemerized to hear the story about the astronaut and to see the real astronaut in space through the video and how they survive in space. Students learned about the 'phases of moon'. Recap of planets of the solar system took place through an interesting quiz where students had to guess the planet in the 'solar system model'. ICT Students learnt about MS Paint. They were guided to use MS Paint. They learnt to Open, draw and colour in MS Paint. They created a drawing on Spring Season, using brushes and colours. ENGLISH Literature-The chapter 'Jack and the Special Beans' was introduced creatively through 'Reader's Theatre' fostering discussions on characters, settings, and the story's structure. Students engaged in activities involving vocabulary from the unit, constructing sentences in their notebooks. A Q&A session at the end of the chapter allowed children to demonstrate their understanding. In a Role Play activity, students enjoyed embodying various story characters. Grammar- The concept of prepositions was introduced through the popular game 'Simon Says' followed by a 'Draw The Prepositions' activity to enhance listening skills. Students practiced framing sentences using 'Prepositions.' Their vocabulary was enriched through learning 'Dolch words list-6.' Additionally, students identified common blends and words ending with 'oa', 'o-e', and 'ow.' Literature- In the month of February, our students explode in their learning! The students actively engaged in both fiction and non-fiction reading and writing activities. The chapter 'Tigers' was introduced through a fun game of 'Tag Your Peer', where students took turns reading aloud sections of the lesson. Vocabulary from the chapter was practiced through the 'Amazing Words'. In addition, students eagerly participated in a Poster Making Activity focused on tigers, showcasing their creativity and presenting their posters to the class. Grammar-The introduction of 'Jumbled Sentences' and 'Jumbled Words' utilized students' prior knowledge, with word unscrambling activities conducted via audio visuals. These concepts were further reinforced through practice exercises in notebooks. Grammar concepts such as 'Special Naming Words' and 'Opposites' were reviewed to consolidate previous learning. Hindi मास का आरंभ मात्राओं की पुनरावृति द्वारा किया गया l छात्रों को मौसम में होने वाले परिवर्तन के बारे में बताया गया l कविता -'रिमझिम बरस रहा है पानी' का वाचन करवाया गया l वर्षा ऋतु की कविता का वीडियो दिखाकर कविता का अभिनय के द्वारा गायन करने का तरीका बताया गया (नृत्य कला और संगीतमय (MI)के साथ एकीकृत किया गया ) | छात्रों ने वर्षा ऋतु के मौसम में बरतने वाली सावधानियों को जाना l (मासिक विषय -मौसम और ऋतु ) पाठ आरंभ करने से पहले छात्रों को भारत के प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू के बारे में बताया गया, साथ ही उनको विडियों भी दिखाई गई l पाठ - 'वह अनोखी सवारी' का पठन करवाया गया। पाठ में आए कठिन शब्द, शब्द -अर्थ और पुस्तकीय अभ्यास करवाया गया l पाठ – ‘चार फुन्दनों वाली टोपी’ (हास्य कथा) का आरंभ करने से पहले ,छात्रों से सिर पर पहनी जाने वाली विभिन्न टोपियों के बारे में पूछा गया। हास्य-कथा को पढ़ते हुए छात्रों ने विभिन्न मात्राओं की पहचान करते हुए वाक्य पढ़ने सीखे। छात्रों ने सीखा कि किसी के मज़ाक से चिढ़ना नहीं चाहिए | सतत विकास लक्ष्य -७ सस्ता एवं प्रदूषण मुक्त से संबंधित करते हुए समाचार पत्रों का प्रयोग करते हुए 'टोपी बनाओ गतिविधि' कराई गई जिसके द्वारा उन्हें पुराने अखबारों को पुनः प्रयोग करना एवं पर्यावरण को प्रदूषण मुक्त रखना सिखाया गया । संयुक्त व्यंजन और द्वित्व व्यंजन के बारे में बताया गया व कार्य पुस्तिका में लिखवाया गया व विडियों द्वारा भी समझाया गया l पाठ - 'नन्ही गौरैया' को आरंभ करने से पहले छात्रों को गौरेया चिड़िया के बारे में बताया गया l गौरैया चिड़िया की विडियों द्वारा कहानी दिखाई गई l पाठ का पठन करवाकर बताया गया कि पक्षी भी हमारे मित्र हैं व उनके लिए दाना-पानी रखने पर चर्चा की गई l छात्रों को स्वयं पढ़कर लिखने के लिए प्रेरित करते हुए पाठ का पुस्तकीय अभ्यास करवाया गया l सभी मात्राओं का पुनरावृति अभ्यास पत्रक द्वारा करवाया गया l लिंक - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyT90oHMhvY https://youtu.be/79xLuI7cGr4 https://youtu.be/b3SwzANDSMw PHYSICAL EDUCATION Under the guidance of their respective teachers/ coaches, students learnt: Skating: One leg balancing while skating and how to stop. Teaching roll ball and how to dribble the ball, handling the ball and shooting practice. Gymnastics: Basics of floor exercises like wall hand stand, handstand kick, baby cartwheel, balancing drill on the beam. Judo: Osotogari ( Technique for throw) all fall, ushiro ukemi, mae ukemi and Yuko ukemi. Non Locomotor Skills: Stability or body management skills like stretching, twisting, galloping, one leg balance, plank, pushing, pulling, ending with lead up activities like stone paper scissors game with hula-hoops, throwing and catching smiley balls and obstacle races. Striking Skills: Eye hand co-ordination game (Catching the ball with both hands), Body Co-ordination Game (Follow through of plastic bat with forward position), Action to reaction Game (Ball hitting with Bat), ending with some competitive lead up games like dog and the bone, relay races, ice and water and in and out game. Manipulation skills: Under the teacher’s command, students were taught to perform manipulation skills with plastic ball handling, basketball dribbling, throwing, football dribbling, kicking, bean bag- catching, and juggling. WESTERN DANCE In their Western Dance lessons, the students learnt: 1. Modern Dance (Limon Technique) 2. Use of dance vocabulary to describe movement. 3. Arm Articulations. 4. Drop swing 5. Dance techniques about the dynamics of body weight as the body rose, fell, and remained in suspension during a dance. 6. Movements to improve a dancer's quality of movement which adds strength while developing dynamic and exciting movement qualities. 7. Unique use of space, weight, and music. 8. Simple exercises that can be later enhanced to challenge modern dance movements and improve one's coordination significantly. 9. The combination steps of Contemporary Dance: Shoulder isolations, leg kicks, leg raise, bum rolling. 10. Full body strengthening warm-up routine to keep one injury free and strong 11. Choreography was done keeping the essence of full movement intact and add the commercial elements to make the art form interesting. This timeless classic will come to life on stage, showcasing the creativity and dedication of our young performers. To make this event a memorable experience for our students, we did a series of activities leading up to the big day: Activity 1:- Students enhanced their creativity but also provide a hands-on experience in the world of theatre arts. Activity 2:- Character Exploration: Through fun games and activities, students went deeper into the personalities of their characters. They learnt how to embody the emotions of their roles, making their performances more authentic and engaging. Activity 3:- Set Design and Decoration: Our budding artists worked together to design and decorate the set for "The Wizard of Oz." This collaborative efforts enhanced their teamwork skills and also gave them a sense of ownership over the production. Activity 4:- Rehearsal Schedule: Regular rehearsals held to ensure that every student is well-prepared for the performance. These rehearsals were not only focus on acting but also on stage presence, voice modulation, and overall performance skills. Activity 5:- Interactive Storytelling: Students participated in interactive storytelling sessions, where they learned the magical world of Oz through various creative activities. This helped them understand the story better and also inspired them to bring their characters to life on stage. We are confident that these activities will not only enhance the students' understanding and appreciation of "The Wizard of Oz" but also help them develop valuable skills that will benefit them both on and off the stage. Students learnt to play different instruments during the practice sessions for the Annual Day celebration. Instruments used: Guitar, drums, piano, keyboard, bucket, congo, shaker, clapbox ART Gr I & II Students made an Abstract tree using different colour scheme. They also created composition on Vasant Panchami, where they practised drawing swan, sitar and lotus flower. Composition: Creative and freehand Art Technique: Free hand, paper craft, colour mixing, colouring, outlining Art tools: Pencil, crayons, scale, craft paper, tissue Learning Outcome: Development of observatory and motor skills, how the motor skills change when introduced to similar art forms like music. The topic for the respective month was Personal Hygiene. The goal of the module was to help students understand and practice healthy habits and maintain personal hygiene. The module elaborated upon the concept of maintaining personal hygiene by keeping oneself clean, eating healthy food and keeping the environment clean. It was delivered in an interactive manner using demonstration, storytelling and visual aids.
