MATHEMATICSIn the month of April, students started Math lessons by strengthening the basics and a recap of what they studied in early years. A class discussion ensued where students were able to count different objects like number of tables, books around them correctly. The students were introduced to counting from 1 to 100 laying emphasis on the concept of Zero with the help of flash cards. They also learnt number names by writing random numbers in their notebook. Taking their understanding further, they learnt to compare numbers using greater than and smaller than sign. With the help of counting forward and backward, they were able to explain which number comes before or after a particular number. The students enjoyed arranging the numbers from 1 – 100 in ascending and descending order by playing a game using number flashcards ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCEThe new session commenced with lot of zeal and excitement. Students actively participated and introduced themselves to their peers and teachers. They did a recapitulation of 'Body parts' with the help of video demonstrations, labelling and colouring activity. They enjoyed identifying different parts of the body and their functions. Students enthusiastically understood the function 5 sense organs by playing 'Chinese Whispers'. Students went for a 'Nature Walk'- where they used their eyes, nose and ears to see, smell and hear different things. Different objects of daily utility were shown to the students like comb, toothbrush, soap, toothpaste, handwash etc. Students were excited to learn about the Unit- 'Family' where they were introduced to the concept of 'Nuclear and Joint Family'. They loved doing the 'Family Picture' activity. They were also taken on the school tour to see where the computers are used and for what purposes. They visited the ICT Lab to get familiar with the various parts of a computer and learnt the 'Lab manners' and the sitting posture while using the computer. They were made aware of the computer care tips to keep their computers safe. They were given a demo on how to hold a mouse as they played the mouse game using GCompris software. They learnt about the various electronic machines that we use in our daily lives and also understood that computer is also one such machine which we use for various purposes. ENGLISHOn the first day of the school, the learners enthusiastically took part in 'Me too and I Never' activity, where they introduced themselves confidently and discussed about their favourite activities. Literature- The young learners completed the Unit- ‘Using My Senses’ with an emphasis on glossary and writing activities. Presentation of the terms Auditory, Visual, Tactile, Olfactory and Gustatory was introduced through a class activity. Amazing words from the unit was done in the notebook. The students were encouraged to frame sentences independently through the oral activity. A blindfold game was played along with the students to evaluate the concept of five senses. Chapter end exercise, comprehension and alphabet writing was done in an interactive manner. Students completed the Unit- 'My Family' with a focus on reading and writing skills. 'Role Play' activity on any one of the family member was done and children participated in the same. Chapter end exercise, comprehension and vocabulary building exercises were done in an interactive session. Grammar- The commencement for the concept of 'Naming Words' was done in a fascinating way through the game-Name/Place/Creature/Thing and an activity 'Mystery Box'. A video related to the same was shown to the students to get a better understanding of the concept. 'Noun Tree' activity was done to evaluate the understanding of the concept. Introductiuon of 'sh' words through an exciting activity followed by the mind map making in the notebook. Introduction of Vowels was done through a video demonstration. Hand print activity was done in the class for the better understanding of ' Vowels'. For self-assessment, children attempted a book exercise on 'Vowels'. Fable Festival- ‘The more you read, the more things you will know.’… Listening to fables and reading them in the month of July, the Fable Festival taught Grade 1 and II students, important lessons and developed a strong foundation for the enjoyment of fiction. They explored fables, which play an important role in highlighting and demonstrating character traits. The reading comprehension was encouraged and students kept developing their reading abilities.Retelling fiction read- aloud, and making opinions orally demonstrated understanding of reading comprehension skills. WESTERN DANCEThe new session started with the enthusiastic Bhangra dance on the occasion of Baisakhi festival. Bhangra being one of the most energetic dance forms, it gives students the scope to push themselves to built their stamina and it is one of the best calisthenic exercise. Bhangra choreography was an amalgamation of rhythmic footwork and broad hand movements. The choreography was done in modern Bhangra style keeping the essence of the folk element intact. The aim was to spread awareness on how to preserve the earth, propagate the ethic for sustainable living, to integrate conservation and development to enable to enjoy long, healthy and fulfilling lives. VISUAL ARTSStudents were introduced to poster-making on World Art Day, they were shown pictures of various posters. Students were encouraged to draw a pallette, colour tubes, pencils, brushes, etc. They learnt when Art Day is celebrated. They also practised the merging and proper filling techniques with oil pastels. Children created a beautiful composition on Mother's Day and also drew self hand impression which was coloured in Cubism style. DRAMAVoice exercises are a set of techniques and practices aimed at improving the quality, range, and flexibility of one's voice. Some common voice exercises include breathing exercises, warm-up exercises for the vocal cords and mouth muscles, and exercises to improve diction and pronunciation. These exercises can help to increase the strength and endurance of the vocal cords, improve the clarity and articulation of speech, and enhance the overall tone and quality of the voice. Regular practice of voice exercises like the one with vowels "A, E, I, O, U" along with identification of different and basic emotions and expressions has been a major part of the practice.
