MathematicsStudents were introduced to the addition word problems by using visual aids and pictorial representations. They learnt to solve the story sums in their Mathematics lessons. The concept of 'Subtraction' was introduced, enabling students to grasp the idea of taking away objects from a group and finding the difference. They were introduced to ‘Subtraction terms’ by using vocabulary cards. Visual representations like drawings were utilized to help students visualize the process of 'Subtraction'. Subtraction was taught using two methods; by using number line and by counting backward to find the difference between the two numbers. Students also enjoyed working on the SEP module, thus building up their logical and analytical skills. Students were also assessed for the concept of 'Addition' through a revision worksheet. Environmental StudiesThe month of August started with the introduction of the topic, 'The World of Plants'. Discussion on parts of plants- fruits, flower, roots, stem, and leaves were done. The functions of different parts of plants were also discussed through video demonstrations. Students were made aware of the different types of plants like trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers, and creepers. The students spotted different 'Types of Plants' as they enjoyed Nature Walk. The same topic was taken up in the class with the help of a PowerPoint presentation and notebook work. The little enthusiasts were too excited to know about how the plant grows. The process of 'Germination' was introduced with the help of a video demonstration and the class activity of sowing seeds. This topic was an Integration with the English Unit- 'Growing beans'. As the topic progressed, the students learnt about the different uses of plants such as in making medicines, clothes and in procuring food, rubber, wood, paper etc. The students learnt about the importance of SDG 14 'Life under Water' and SDG 15 'Life on Land' through worksheets in 'Be the Change book' and students understood the concept better while making a honeybee craft. They understood the functions and features of the Parts. They enjoyed typing on the 'WordPad' using the keyboard. EnglishLiterature: The monthly theme for August was centered around 'Plants.' Children completed Unit-4, which focused on 'Growing Beans.' The chapter introduction involved a poem recitation and connecting the topic to students' prior knowledge. Students brought their imagination live on paper by created drawings of 'My Garden' . A video demonstration explained the different parts of a plant.. An interactive 'Jigsaw Puzzle' game was organized in which students were required to arrange the parts of a plant in the correct order. Important vocabulary words from the chapter were noted down. The chapter's end exercises were conducted interactively, involving brainstorming between students and the teacher. Grammar: Action words (verbs) were introduced to the students using a 'Spin a Wheel Activity.' Students enthusiastically participated in the activity, eagerly waiting for their turns to spin the wheel. A creative variation of the game 'Dumb Charades' was played, where students acted out the verbs while their peers guessed the words. To reinforce learning and knowledge, students worked on activities in their notebooks. The concept of blending- end blends 'nd' and 'ng' was explained using a 'Mind Map.' Dolch words list 1, was introduced to the children in order to strengthen their vocabulary. The use of interactive games, creative exercises, and visual aids like mind maps and videos likely contributed to an effective and enjoyable learning experience for the children. Judo: Ushiro Ukemi (Backward fall), Mae Ukemi (Forward fall) Non Locomotor Skills: Stability or body management skills like stretching, twisting, galloping, one leg balance, plank, pushing, pulling, ending with lead up activities like stone paper scissors game with hula-hoops,Throwing and catching smiley balls and Obstacle races. The new choreography started with the enthusiastic Onam dance on the occasion of Onam. Using the contemporary tools and feeling of hasya ras, students learnt an energetic South Indian folk dance. Contemporary tools give students the scope to push themselves to build their flexibility and it is one of the best calisthenic exercise. Patriotic choreography was an amalgamation of contemporary movement and folk authentic using vocals as the secondary tool. The choreography was done in modern style keeping the essence of Tollywood intact. Indian Dance The right way to celebrate the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami is to embrace and follow the teachings of lord Krishna from Bhagwat Geeta. The power of Shree Krishna destroys all your sorrows, enhances your happiness, and creates goodness all around. With this thought, in August students learnt a beautiful Krishna Vandana on the song - "Shri Krishna Govinda" in Kathak style along with beautiful postures, mudras and body balancing. Indian Music GRADE 1 अगस्त माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: गायन अभ्यास : अलंकार , बैलून ब्रीथिंग , वाद्य परिचय कहानी के माध्यम से गीत : नीली छतरी गीत , शांति मंत्र , वाद्य गीत संगीत ४ आल : वेलकम गीत , ग्रीटिंग गीत , सरे गामा बॉडी गेम , बाय - बाय गीत प्रयोग हुए वाद्य : तानपूरा गायन तकनीक : गायन के अभ्यास की बुनियादी तकनीक Western Music Song practised: "Parts of a Plant" integrated with SDG 15: Life on Land Instrument used/ taught: Drum Art Children practiced beautiful land and water animals like shark, turtle, giraffe, lion etc. however from this they used some animals for their art integration with Hindi for show and tell activity. Children also created beautiful flowers (monthly theme plants) like lotus, sunflower, rose and garden scene. Independence Day The month of August brings with it the spirit of patriotic fervour as it is all about talking to our children and instilling in them a deep love for our country. To showcase their patriotism, Grade I children participated in the Show & Tell Activity in which they were dressed up as Freedom fighters and spoke a few lines about the same. They also crafted a beautiful Tricolour cap on the occasion of Independence Day. Assembly Grade I A“Respect is one of the greatest expressions of love.” Keeping true to the wording of the quote, a general assembly was conducted on the topic 'I am Respectful' by the students of Grade IA on 4th August 2023. The assembly showed the importance of being respectful and kept the audience engrossed throughout the presentation. The students presented prayer, thought for the day, news, and new word was introduced to enhance the vocabulary. The assembly also included a few acts by the students which showed how can we be respectful towards our parents, teachers, and other living beings like animals, plants etc. This day concluded with the wise and motivational words by Principal ma'am and the soulful rendition of the National Anthem. Assembly Grade I B“We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race.” A general assembly on ‘Unity in Diversity’ was conducted by Grade I B on 29.08.23 in the school gymnasium. The assembly began with an insightful thought, followed by a news update. The Significance of the topic was conveyed in a more realistic and effective manner by the students through small acts and a mesmerizing dance performance. A riveting quiz time was also conducted by the students to recap the topic. The little wonders left everyone spellbound by their presentation skills and were encouraged by Mansi Ma’am with her kind words of appreciation. The assembly culminated with the School Anthem and National Anthem. Assembly Grade I CThe Rakshabandhan assembly conducted by Grade I-C was a heartwarming event that beautifully combined the themes of soldiers' bravery and the significance of Rakshabandhan in the modern age. The assembly featured a skit and a captivating dance performance, both of which left a lasting impact on the audience. The centerpiece of the assembly was a skit performed by the students, which depicted the lives of soldiers and their dedication to protect nation. Following the skit, a mesmerizing dance performance took the stage. The dance was a beautiful fusion of traditional and modern elements. The students of Grade I-C successfully conveyed the message that Rakshabandhan is not just a traditional ritual but a timeless celebration of love, protection, and the unbreakable bond between siblings.
